Young Girls as Models – Yes or No?

10 years old  Thylane Lena-Rose Blondeau in Vogue

Everybody is talking lately about one little girl, so I’ve decided to address the issue as well. People in the fashion world are saying Kate Moss found her successor in the eyes of the ten year old Thylane Lena-Rose Blondeau. I am sure we all agree that she looks far from young and innocent on these professional Vogue photos. She has the confidence of a real celebrity. Blonde hair, blue eyes, thick lips, tall and slim – that’s the description of the little coquette. There is nothing strange about Thylane showing class – she has been raised by celebrities – her father is a former soccer player – Patrick Blondeau and her mom is a reality star and fashion designer – Veronika Loubry.

Thylane works as a model from a very early age – her first photo shoot was when she was just 4 and a year later she was on the runaway showing clothes for Jean-Paul Gauthier. In December comes her special Vogue shoot where she is posing with full on makeup and Ralph Loren couture looking like Lolita. For one of the pictures Thylane is wearing high heels and a necklace that costs 4.3 million dollars. The pictures are live on Vogue magazine a little before Christmas, however no one seems to care back then. In the summer they have been dug out by reporters and the scandal about the fashion metamorphose is ready to blow.

The Feminsting.com editor Chloe Angyal wrote. “It’s inappropriate, and creepy, and I never want to see a nine-year-old girl in high-heeled leopard print bedroom slippers ever again.” The debate is getting bigger and bigger and the main question is – should we allow 10 year olds to be models and does the fashion industry make enough efforts to protect the children? Thylane’s parents have nothing against the photos and they don’t find anything inappropriate in them.

So what do you think about that whole deal? Would you allow your 10 year old daughter to be a model if that’s what she wants to do? Don’t the little beautiful girls deserve to be children as well? If she is a grown woman at 10, what is she going to do when she is 30?

Fall Trend Report: Tunic & Pants

With this post we will jump for a little bit into the coming fall and take a look at a trend being introduced by designers like Osman, Richard Nicoll, Michael Kors replying to the woman’s need for simplicity and elegance. According to them the lady who is confidently walking down the street without even one extra feature in her outfit is wearing a tunic matched with pants in a chic, easy-going way. This spontaneous and loose apparel covers the woman’s body in a way that not even one imperfection is visible and the bright colors make it look interesting and deep. That’s the style of the intelligent woman, the one who is aiming for the exquisite image, however is not a slave of the latest trends.

One-colored outfits were mainly shown which reveal well-balanced character that will not tolerate the constantly changing fashion caprices. Michael Kors’ deep v-necks, on the other side, were the undoubted proof this kind of fall wear can also be a very sexy one!

And since the 100 degrees temperatures won’t allow us to stay in a fall mood for long, we’ve created a chic summer outfit for going out featuring an elegant tunic by AllSaints which can be paired with pants when the right time comes. The grey + gentle pink combination is very feminine and romantic. Ladies, this is a total winner cute outfit!

Discounted Diane Von Furstenberg Fashion Dresses by Boutique 1

Lately I’ve been into reviewing fall 2011 ready-to-wear collections and one in particular grabbed my attention. I am talking about Diane Von Furstenberg and her gorgeous designs – classic black outfits, amazing prints and shapes, sexy boots but most of all – fabulous gowns. The only problem is – no matter how much I love the collection I would never be able to afford a brand new hot designer’s piece. You may call it a coincidence or pure luck but at the same moment I’ve been lusting after DVF fall dresses an e-mail came by asking to feature a new online boutique on my-vogue. And guess what – they offer – more than 70 gorgeous discounted dresses by Diane Von Furstenberg! So if you have always been dreaming of owning a designer’s piece,  Boutique 1 will be able to hook you up. We would love to share our absolute favorite designs:

My-Highlights: Moschino – Fashion Must be Fun

Moschino Fall RTW 2011

Moschino Fall 2011 RTW (style.com)

Franco Moschino, also known as the bad boy of the fashion world, one more time confirmed the conception that trends must be bold and innovative. For years the fashion house has been defending the theory that good taste doesn’t exist and following this motto when creating new collections – clothes, shoes, perfumes, lingerie. The main purpose of Moschino designs is to bring positive emotions and joy thanks to the bright, vivid colors, bold prints and amazing combinations of both. The original taste of the Italian designer has been recognized by many fashion followers and celebrities like Kylie Minogue, Beyonce, Natalie Imbruglia, Uma Thurman and many others. Hundred times the critics have been calling Moschino “the clown of the fashion world”, however even that definition is not able to make his designs less popular and desired.

He was born in 1950 in a small Italian town, not too far from Milan. He had been expressing himself in the art of painting from a very young age. Gradually the young artist started making drawings for different fashion magazines and that’s how he entered the world of seasonal trends. Unfortunately he died really young, at the age of 44 suffering cardiac arrest. It doesn’t matter what people say, the Moschino brand will always be known as innovative and unique, never afraid to experiment and overstep boundaries and limits. An absolute proof is the new Fall ready to wear collection which you may review in full at style.com. Above is just one of our most favorite outfits. Enjoy!

What I love…

I was thinking about writing a rather moody post but warning you about it. Then I changed my mind – instead of complaining about what’s bugging me I will tell you all the things I love. I love being outside – just walking around or sitting on a bench, I love going to restaurants and getting a table on the patio, I love driving with the ac off, loud music and the windows down, I love hanging all day with my friends by the pool (or on the beach when I am home), I love setting up chairs and sitting all night on the balcony, I admire houses with beautiful gardens and nice patio furniture, I love sunny weather when it’s winter so I can be out all day, I love chilly weather when it’s summer so I can dress comfy and be out all night. Man, I just love being outside, breathing, walking, talking, living. For three months, however, like a colleague from work said: “I get in a bad mood from the car to the office”. I have never experienced such an unbearable heat and felt the need to talk about it. I am so sad, frustrated and annoyed that for three months I hate to do all the things that I love. You simply cannot breath out of an air-conditioned room. Thinking about staying out for two minutes makes me sick. I feel like I am in a desert and the nature is dead around me – the grass is all dry and yellow, you don’t hear any birds, you don’t see any squirrels. Every desire for life is lacking, like everybody gave up. Only the sun still has energy. It is so sad. All I wanna do is wear any of these, stay home and dream about November… Have a happy weekend and try to stay cool. Period. I am done.

Midnight in Paris Inspiration for a Cute Outfit

Have you guys seen “Midnight in Paris”? Amazing movie by Woody Allen – so beautiful and Parisian. It may wake up your desire to move to Europe or in my case – go to Paris for vacation but at least for a month. If you watch it you will probably start thinking about things like how easy is to break a relationship, why people are never happy with what’s “here”, but always want to be “there”? From a fashion stand point Rachel McAdams got me thinking – how trendy is it to wear shirts as dresses? That was what she was rocking most of the time in the movie and looked pretty good. Normally we would wear a long shirt like a tunic, right? Usually matched with leggings or tight pants. And that would be a very cute outfit, but not heat appropriate. So why don’t you try going bare legs next time you are in a mood for a shirt-dress wear? Always throw a belt for a more stylish look. By stealing some ideas from Rachel McAdams’ stylists I managed to pair a nice summer outfit. Another advantage of that combination is that you can wear flats or flip flops all day long. I really like it with wedges though.  This time matching is not according to rules – there is more than three colors mixed up and some bright make up… C’mon ladies rock those shirt dresses and dream like you are in Paris! Everything is a question of imagination.
