The summer is already here which means showing out more in bathing suits. And everybody wants to look good and be in shape. So if you haven’t started going to gym regularly, maybe now is the perfect time to get ready for your summer holiday. In order to try to provoke your interest, I’ve decided to dedicate this post to sporty/lounge outfits. Because not only it is the necessary apparel when working out, but also that’s my favorite wear for chilling at home after work or in the weekends. It is always more comfortable and relaxing to wear loose pants and a tee or hoodie. However this doesn’t mean we have to be neglectful or careless about how we look. Even the loungewear can look sexy and trendy when chosen right and matched properly.
My favorite from all the sport brands is PUMA- their designs and colors looks great for a sportswear. I even looked to find some history for the company at wikipedia and turned out the whole story is very interesting: The whole name of the German brand is Puma AG Rudolf Dassler Sport (Puma). The shoe factory was firts found by Adolf Dassler, also known as Adi. Later on Rudolh, after tiring of working for others and away from home, returned to Herzogenaurach in 1924 to join his younger brother. They called the new business Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory. By the 1936 Summer Olympics, Adi Dassler drove from Bavaria on one of the world’s first motorways to the Olympic village with a suitcase full of spikes and persuaded United States sprinter Jesse Owens to use them, the first sponsorship for an African-American. After Owens won four gold medals, his success cemented the good reputation of Dassler shoes among the world’s most famous sportsmen. Letters from around the world landed on the brothers’ desks, and the trainers of other national teams were all interested in their shoes. Business boomed and the Dasslers were selling 200,000 pairs of shoes each year before World War II. Both brothers joined the Nazi Party, but Rudolf was slightly closer to the party. During the war, a growing rift between the pair reached a breaking point after an Allied bomb attack in 1943 when Adi and his wife climbed into a bomb shelter that Rudolf and his family were already in: “The dirty bastards are back again”, Adi said, apparently referring to the Allied war planes, but Rudolf was convinced his brother meant him and his family. After Rudolf was later picked up by American soldiers and accused of being a member of the Waffen SS, he was sure that his brother had turned him in.
In 1948, the brothers split their business, when Rudi left the high hill for the other side of the Aurach river: Adolf called his firm Adidas after his nick name Adi and the first three letters of his last name Adi Dassler; Rudolf called his new firm Ruda – from Rudolf Dassler. Rudolf’ company changed its name to Puma Schuhfabrik Rudolf Dassler in 1948, and became a public company in 1986, listed on the Börse München and Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
I apologies if I bored you with this story, but I thought it’s quite interesting. And I never knew the company was built by two brothers who later on created Adidass and Puma by splitting their own business. Isn’t that strange – how brothers turn into enemies and by competing with each other, create the biggest sport companies in the world??? But that’s Germans – they own the best cars and the best sportswear
Anyway, when I came to America I was very surprised to find out that Puma is also the most expensive brand. That’s why I was looking for couple of days in the online stores to find out nice PUMA clothes and accessories for less than $50 and match some lounge outfits.
